My Third Shoot, Best Yet?

Wed Jun 4, 2008, 8:29 PM
Check out benyatesphotography.com for the latest updates.

I had been looking forward to this shoot for just over a month, i had arranged a booking with a model i noticed on another Photographer’s personal site, a guy whose photography and array of contnt both impresses and inspires me, she was pretty easy to find to be honest. I wanted to shoot Natalia from the get go because she was hot, baically, i had to wait until finances fell in to place before the shoot could go ahead but i wanted to make sure i had secured a booking.

Straight from a Playboy UK shoot, Natalia arrived by train and despite multple meeting points we eventually found each other and began our journey back to the apartment. We got to work almost straight away, stopping for the occasional brew and the three hours flew by, Natalia needed no direction at all, she was completely profesional and knew just how to move from one ose to another and have them seemlesly flow together.

I thought this would be my worst shoot ever, i had messed up majorly with lighting and hd a couple of minor technical issue with my camera during the shoot, i was damn sure it wold be another expensive learning curve, it wasn’t and shockingly over 90% of what i shot could hit my site/portfolio/wall and i would be proud to put my name against it. I honestly believe having a model who knew what she was doing, who knew how to pose and who was patient really helped the images and allowed me to capture some of my best yet, my lighting wasn’t as shocking as i thought it would be either. I will definately book her for a shoot again, if she is still modelling, more importantly, if i can still afford her!

I'm still learning and i think this shoot still reflects that and there are some glaring flaws and complete catastrophies with lighting, angles and poses but on the whole there is a considerable improvement, in my opinoun.

Second Shoot Under My Belt

Tue Dec 11, 2007, 2:30 AM
benyatesonline - the pofficial portfolio

I've started to submit some images from my second ever photo shoot that i completed on Sunday 9th December. I encourage constructive comments and criticism, those who have also seen work from my first shoot should immediately recognize one major improvement that has boosted the overall quality of every image shot that day.

I know they are not great, but theres enough improvement for me to keep going and to keep putting money in to it in the process. I can see progress, which is a good thing.

I have video coming soon too, check out my blog later in the week for that. I have another shoot on the 30th of January, hopefully i can upgrade my camera once again in that short time.

If ANYONE could help me; my problem is i can't seem to get my images to pop they seem so flat and rubber-like, what may i be doing wrong?

You can checkout videos from my latest shoots at my blog

November 30th

A shoot is booked. That's right for the first time in over a year and a half i will be able to put to use the feedback and lessons i've learnt from my first, flawd, attempt.

This time i have better equipment, and an idea of how to use it. I will not underestimate just how vital lighting is to create the perfect shot as i did in my first. I will not shoot in a crappy 3 star hotel room.

I will shoot like crazy.

I'll be updating DA and my personal site over at benyatesonline.com over the first weekend of December. We'll see just how much i've learnt and how much has actually sunk in.

I think even i might be surprised.

Later x
